Loftus IT specialises in designing, implementing and maintaining IT environments for businesses, including integration and support of heterogeneous environments where Microsoft is integrated with Linux and Unix.

Examples of clients' infrastructure environments we have built and supported:

Classic Integrated Microsoft and Red Hat Linux Environment

Using VMware virtualisation platform, this environment includes a Microsoft Exchange server, Active Directory server, Terminal Server, File Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux application Server running an ERP application system.

Rural Site with Thin Client workstations and Virtualisation

This site is implemented with Red Hat virtualisation using XEN, Red Hat File Server and Windows Terminal Server. HP thin client workstations are used to simplify desktop workstation support. A second physical server replicates the first at a second location, with manual changeover, to provide fault tolerance and disaster recovery.

The site is managed remotely.

Hospital IT Infrastructure

In this hospital environment, an IBM mainframe runs an application used throughout the hospital. The workstations are Windows PCs linked to the mainframe using Solaris mid-range equipment. Printing from the application is also managed through the mid-range equipment.

Printing and Press

This environment is based on a Linux file server and an Application server running an Oracle based Line of Business application. Users have a mixture of Apple Mac and Windows desktops. The local area network also connects to sophisticated printing equipment.

An Orthodontist Practice

This practice relies on its Line of Business application to record and retrieve patient management data, including X-Rays and photographs. The practice operates at several locations with a private wide area network that we designed and implemented in conjunction with Internode.

Windows workstations along with Terminal Server thin client workstations are utilised, as are Apple iPads with WiFi connectivity.

A Medical Imaging Practice

This practice runs a Unix/Linux based application that is accessed at many suburban, country and hospital sites using Windows workstations.

A private wide area network is used to access the central site IT services and to link medical imaging equipment (MRI, digital X-Ray and Ultrasound, CT Scanners, etc.) at the various sites so that imaging studies can be stored and managed using a PACS system.
