ICT Services - Infrastructure

Infrastructure Services

There are three aspects to Infrastructure Services that we provide services for:

System Integration Services

Software Integration Services

Product Supply Services

System Integration Services

System | Structure, Coordination, Technique, Approach, Method, Logic

Is spam protection working well? Is all the software up to date and secure? Are we running out of disk storage? Do we have enough software licences? Are our subscriptions current? When does our domain registration need renewal? Do we have working and effective disaster recovery processes? Is our antivirus software updating correctly?

Implementing strong, secure and reliable ICT systems is a non-trivial undertaking. Technology vendors strive to create better 'plug-and-play' or 'turn-key' systems and it’s an elusive quest, given the underlying complexity and the rate of change occurring across the technology spectrum.

Many smaller companies have a go at setting up their own IT infrastructure ... they tend to get so far and then discover that not only are the results inadequate, but they are spending more time on technology than on other critical business activities.

So then the question becomes "Who to turn to?". Practically every hardware and software vendor offers services to implement their own technology. The problem is, their own technology is often as far as they go! It’s an unavoidable fact of life that today's ICT systems, at least for commercial purposes, need to combine technologies from a number of vendors.

That's where Loftus IT can help. We are experienced in all aspects of contemporary ICT infrastructure implementation. We look at a Client's needs holistically and we put together a plan of action that gets the complete job done from end-to-end. We engage reliable partners to do the things we aren't good at - for example, we are very good at planning and configuring a network, but we partner with a specialist to do the wiring work.

More importantly, we look at the client’s budgetary constraints and where possible:

  • - Choose Tier 1 products or the next best offer to ensure quality and proven products are provided,
  • - Consider the on-going or life costs of the infrastructure and again where practical offer products that are going to consume less energy, generate less heat and provide reduced support costs,
  • - Take into account future business directions and select flexible solutions that can be readily adapted as the future unfolds.

Our business is about ensuring that the systems we implement work properly, are as environmentally friendly as is possible, deliver the value that our Client's are looking for and remain appropriate into the future.

Software Integration Services

Integration | Addition, Mixing, Incorporation, Amalgamation, Combination

Our Software Integration services are applied in two distinctly different ways:

- Partnering with software vendors & distributors to provide infrastructure expertise on implementation projects;

- Implementing and customising Open Source applications for end-user Clients.

In some cases, it is the end-user organisation that seeks our help with a software package implementation, but it is more common that we work in partnership with a software vendor or one of their re-sellers. An example of the latter arrangement is the work we do with Manufacturing and Distribution Software (MDS), distributors of the Pronto ERP package in South Australia.

Many of the end-user requests we receive are from Clients who, for a variety of reasons, are keen to explore the potential of Open Source software. These reasons may include cost constraints, lack of required functionality in commercial packages or the need for rapid and responsive change to the system being implemented.

Our first step is to identify and evaluate solution candidates from the vast Open Source software pool ... we might already have a recommended approach based on previous experience. This is typically followed by a pilot project that lets the Client get their hands on the software and if that goes well, we move to a full-scale system application deployment initiative.

Product Supply Services

Supply | Provide, Satisfy need, Source, Deliver, Make available

PWe provide product procurement to complete the other services we offer our clients – none of our clients come to us only for the supply of product.

We have arrangements in place with distributors and vendors to be able to purchase just about any brand or breed of software or hardware to satisfy your needs.

We have the tools in place that enable us to manage our Service Level Agreements and with this we can also manage our client’s software licensing and hardware life cycle (warranty) issues.

As part of our product supply business we focus on four issues which, coincidentally, are the first four components of our company vision. These are:

1. Working within the framework of client needs and budgets,

2. Balancing the application of Open Source and Proprietary Software to deliver the best available solution, on time and within budget,

3. Choosing infrastructure and hardware that offers the best environmental outcome available to fulfil the client needs.

4. Having access to a variety of suppliers ensuring the timely supply of cost effective and proven software and hardware,
